Vehicle Description

1955 Chevrolet 3100 1/2 ton Apache Pickup The Chevrolet Task Force was Chevrolet's successor to the Advance Design series.  The Task Force Series ran from late 1955, (second series), through 1959.  At GMC dealers, it was called the Blue Chip Series.  Designed by Ned Jordan, Chevrolet's Task Force pickups blurred the line between passenger cars and trucks.  They were more comfortable and roomier than previous Chevy trucks, and they offered stylish features like a wraparound windshield, hooded headlights, and an egg-crate grille.  For consignment, a nicely buttoned up 3100 Apache pickup hot rod truck from Chevrolet and right out of 1955.  A few upgrades in the powertrain, some snappy long arrow point painting using copper metallic and cream, some extra bodywork for the sidestep exhaust outlets, and rear tailgate setup now with a rear spoiler and rear tubbed wheel wells.  Our consignor states it was owned by an older lady?  I'd like to go up against her! Exterior Laser straight steel panels are all around and gaps are drum tight for that steel.  All slabs are bathed in copper metallic on the lowers with some cream thin pointy arrows on the front quarters and door panels.  The uppers are in the cream for the hood and roofline and the rear spoiler.  Borrowing from the doors contrasting long pointy arrows are in the copper and are definitely the deep part of the pool and shines like the fish that swim in it.  Hooded headlights flank either side of the now battleship simplified chrome grille insert and surround.  The front bumper has been shaved and now there are 2 vertical round chromed pushers rising from below the front end.  A bulbous hood runs back to the curved glass which is under a cream drilled metal visor.  New chromed sport mirrors are on the doors that have had their handles shaved.  For the back of the truck it's all bed, some boxed side steps which house the massive exhaust outlets and angle back to the rounded tubbed rear fenders.  These move to the rear where they frame the bed and a now angled tailgate and custom fabricated roll pan with the taillights and more chromed tube vertical push bars.  The cream painted steel smooth bed is taken up mostly by the rear spoiler which starts on the bed and rises gently to above the tailgate.  Plenty vents in the hood, and the insert for the grille is a fine punched hole pattern stainless.  15-inch polished wheels are on and in the back we see the 31x10.50R15 big tires in the tubs. Interior More copper and cream for the all steel door panels.  Cream uppers and copper lowers that have an orange pinstripe triangulated accenting on the lowers.  Inside late model low back wide buckets with copper vinyl edges and seat insert and then halfway up the back it turns to cream vinyl.  These sit upon copper plastic pedestals and float on copper carpeting.  A drilled short lever shifter is rising for the driver in the center, and there is also a small console with some nifty angled smokestack cup holders and push button cruise control.  In front is a metal dash n cream and it has been modified from the original looking much like a '56 Chevy with the instrument fan and now 2 circular instruments in this field.  A peppering of round chrome bezel gauges is on the remaining parts of the dash left and center.  Here also is an AM/FM/CD radio.  Fronting the dash is an octagonal cream padded rally steering wheel.  A shout to the dash top which is copper and has wild undulating pin striping on it. Drivetrain A flip of the big bulbous hood, and floating in the center is ...WAIT..no engine?  Actually it's a custom fabricated panel that covers the entire engine bay.  It's mostly copper with some cream accenting in the center.  Under these panels is the heartbeat of America or at least this truck, in the form of a 350ci V8.  It sports a single Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor, and on back is a Muncie M20 4-speed manual bolted on.  A Ford 9 inch rear axle
